A Visit from University of Malaya Geology Students!

Updated: Jun 13

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a group of geology students from University of Malaya and UKM to our KL office who are currently performing their internships at THS, a premier Hydrographic Company in Malaysia.

As part of this educational session the students were introduced the relationship between seismic data and its geo-spatial components, its coordinates, along with some of the cloud based applications used as part of our companies rigorous QA/QC workflows (e.g., GeoRepository, GeoSuite Calc, Wells, and Seismic Apps). A series of demos were given to illustrate the data integration applied by exploration project teams of how such workflows are applied to real-world projects — from managing geodetic data to handling seismic surveys and borehole mapping.

The students, who raised some great questions, showed great enthusiasm in learning about this data integration and how it applied to a variety of different exploration datasets. We also shared some of our own project experiences to give them a glimpse into how things work in the industry.

It was an enjoyable and inspiring morning — thank you to Safar at THS for bringing his interns along for this sharing session and we look forward to interacting with other educational groups wanting to have similar experiences.
